The Los Angeles Lakers lost their second preseason game of the 2025-26 schedule to the Golden State Warriors, 111-103, on Sunday after dropping their first preseason contest by 22 points on Friday. While they have a lot to work on, especially offensively, a few of their players stood out and performed well.

One of those players was forward Jake LaRavia, whom the Lakers signed over the summer. He made five of his 10 field-goal attempts and scored 10 points while adding three assists and one steal in 20 minutes.

He said afterward that he already feels comfortable in his new role with his new team.

“To be honest, I think I’m already pretty comfortable with the role that I have and the role that’s been given to me and what me and JJ [Redick] have talked about,” LaRavia said. “Again, it’s obviously going to be different when Luka [Doncic] and LeBron and AR (Austin Reaves) are all in the lineup and I’m thrown in with them. It’ll be more of me being that spacer rather than being on-ball and being the connecting piece. Either way, I’m comfortable doing both things.”

Last season, as a member of the Memphis Grizzlies and Sacramento Kings, LaRavia shot 42.3% from 3-point range and averaged 6.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 0.9 steals in 20.4 minutes a game. He’s projected to give the Lakers accurate 3-point shooting and perhaps some effective individual and team defense this season.

At age 23, he should have room for improvement, especially defensively, where the team needs one or two perimeter players to become definite standouts. He has already shown the ability to be disruptive on that end of the floor, and overall, he has a fairly good motor and plays with a fairly high level of effort and energy.
