CHARLOTTE, N.C. — NASCAR Cup Series driver Daniel Suárez shared scary photos of a crash involving his wife, mother and mother-in-law that left his wife’s SUV seriously damaged on Monday.

Suárez posted the images on social media. Officials confirmed the crash happened along North Carolina 73, just west of Highway 16 in eastern Lincoln County. Suárez said the trio was riding in his wife’s Chevrolet Blazer SUV, which was destroyed in the collision. It’s unclear what caused the crash.

“This car saved the lives of my wife, mother and mother-in-law,” Suárez said. “Yesterday was a very scary day. Today, I’m just so grateful that they are alive.”
