It happened early Tuesday morning, according to a Dunwoody Police statement.

DUNWOODY, Ga. — A Dunwoody man was shot at this week after discovering two men breaking into his car, police said.

According to a Dunwoody Police statement, the man wasn’t hit by gunfire but was shot at five times in the moments after encountering the break-in in progress, with glass and debris from a window and door being hit by bullets striking him in the chest.

Dunwoody Police said the victim woke up just after midnight on Tuesday morning at his apartment on Lake Ridge Lane and saw his car lights flashing through his window.

“His vehicle was parked in front of his bedroom window at his apartment at the time, so he walked outside to see why this was happening,” the Dunwoody PD statement said. “When he opened the door, he saw a male inside his car and one standing outside.”

With virtually no warning, the man standing outside the car began firing at the victim. In addition to bullets hitting the window and door, bullets hit other apartments and cars nearby.

The victim’s injuries from the glass and debris were not considered life-threatening and he was not hospitalized.

Dunwoody Police meanwhile say the investigation is active and ask anyone with information to contact Detective Waldron at tim.waldron@dunwoodyga.gov.
