Not many WTA players can say they have a winning record against Aryna Sabalenka.
Sabalenka is the current world number one and has been in that position for the past 51 weeks.
The Belarusian has not lost many matches this year, with only 10 players, including Amanda Anisimova beating Sabalenka in 2025.
After Sabalenka won the US Open, she became a four-time Grand Slam champion, but she still has a losing record against a player who is now unranked.

That person is Hsieh Su-wei, the Taiwanese WTA player who is known for her crafty and unorthodox game style, which includes hitting both a two-handed backhand and forehand.
Hsieh and Sabalenka have played one another on three occasions, the first of those coming at the Italian Open in 2018.
This was when Sabalenka had just turned 20 years old and had only gained entry into the main draw via a lucky loser spot.
Experience showed on this occasion, as Hsieh beat Sabalenka in straight sets to gain the first victory in their head-to-head.
They did not meet again until a year later on the grass of Birmingham, when Sabalenka was a much more established threat on the WTA Tour and was already a top 10 player.
Despite this, the same outcome occurred once again, but this time Hsieh had to fight back from 4-2 down in a deciding set to beat Sabalenka and extend her lead in the head-to-head over the Belarusian.
The third and final meeting took place on the hard courts of Adelaide in 2020, completing all the surfaces of their head-to-head.
It appeared that once again Sabalenka would be unable to deal with the wily game of Hsieh, especially when she led 5-3 in the third set and had the chance to serve for the match.
However, on this occasion power came through and Sabalenka was able to get her first win against Hsieh, winning 5-7 6-1 7-5.

This was the last time that they ever played one another, with Hsieh leading the head-to-head over Sabalenka 2-1, and their singles careers have gone in very different directions since then.
Why does Hsieh Su-wei no longer have a WTA singles ranking?
Hsieh’s winning record against Sabalenka is not her only career feat in singles, highlighted by her best singles ranking of world number 23.
The Taiwanese player has also won three WTA titles, and reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open in 2021.
As well as her winning record against Sabalenka, Hsieh also has the advantage in her head-to-head against Venus Williams, Kim Clijsters, and Garbine Muguruza.
However, Hsieh has not played a singles match since March 2024, when she lost in Indian Wells qualifying to Greet Minnen.
This is because Hsieh announced her retirement from singles competition and wanted to prioritise doubles due to the physical demands of the tour.
Now 39 years old, Hsieh is unranked in singles but is still a prominent and very popular figure on the doubles circuit.
Hsieh has been world number one in doubles and has won nine Grand Slam titles in her career, with the most recent of those coming at the Wimbledon mixed doubles event in 2024.

She also reached the women’s doubles final at the Australian Open earlier this year with her current partner Jelena Ostapenko.
Although they have not won a title in 2025, Hsieh and Ostapenko have already confirmed their qualification to the year-end WTA Finals in Riyadh.
