The Knob Point Fire in Clatsop State Forest is officially over.
According to Brad Catton, operations coordinator for the Oregon Department of Forestry Astoria District, crews, after completely containing the blaze, finished mopping up the scene Friday morning.
The fire is estimated to have burned over 100 acres since beginning on Monday.
Firefighters were assisted by Thursday evening rains, lower temperatures and higher humidity toward the end of the week.
According to Ami Kreider, ODF wildland supervisor, the cause of the fire is still under investigation but is determined to have been “human caused.”
Friday also marks the end of Oregon’s 2025 fire season in much of the Northwest and the Clatsop County Fire Defense Board has lifted its county wide burn ban.
