Right, another big day and the standouts have to be Bryce Young going toe-to-toe with Dak Prescott and leading the Panthers to victory and Sam Darnold’s dominance for the Seahawks. Goodnight!

Baltimore Ravens 3-17 LA Rams

Carolina Panthers 30-27 Dallas Cowboys

Indianapolis Colts 31-27 Arizona Cardinals

Jacksonville Jaguars 12-20 Seattle Seahawks

Miami Dolphins 27-29 LA Chargers

New Orleans Saints 19-25 New England Patriots

Pittsburgh Steelers 23-9 Cleveland Browns

The Steelers defense keeps Gabriel in check on a tough afternoon for the rookie. Pittsburgh surge to 4-1 and Cleveland are now 1-5. The Browns have now lost 22 straight in Pittsburgh. Ouch.

Share

Steelers 23-9 Browns 2:00, 4th quarter

We are still rolling in Pittsburgh. One game standing. And it has been over for some time. But let’s lock in for the two-minute drill. What have you got Dillon Gabriel?

Final score: Saints 19-25 Patriots, Colts 31-27 Cardinals

Impressive Indi move to 5-1 and New England rise to 4-2. Saints slip to 1-5 with Cards back on 2-4.

ShareFinal score: Jaguars 12-20 Seahawks

Another penalty against the Jaguars gives the Seahawks a fresh set of downs when they were kicking a field goal and as such Seattle have no need to go for the touchdown in the red zone. They sit on the ball and wind the clock out. Very disappointing for the 4-2 Jaguars who never looked like matching Darnold and the Seahawks who are now also 4-2.

Final score: Panthers 30-27 Cowboys

It’s good!!! Another walk off field goal but this time for the Panthers. Ryan Fitzgerald wins the shootout with his shoe from 33 yards. Carolina pull of an upset and are now 3-3 with the Cowboys shrinking back to 2-3-1.

ShareFinal score: Dolphins 27-29 Chargers

It’s good! McConkey breaks off a nice catch and run to put the Bolts into field position for the game-winning field goal. Dicker the kicker bangs it through from 33 yards. Great comeback from the Chargers to keep them 4-2 and push the struggling Dolphins to 1-5.

Jaguars 12-20 Seahawks 2:29, 4th quarter

Darnold just continues to shine for Seattle. He slings it 61 yards to AJ Barner to put the Seahawks in the red zone and on the verge of putting this one to bed. Busted coverage sums up a weird day from Jacksonville, moments of quality and moments they would like to forget.

ShareTOUCHDOWN! Dolphins 27-26 Chargers 5:33, 4th quarter

Darren Waller has his fourth touchdown of the season and the Dolphins are up by one. Who knew the veteran’s comeback would go so wonderfully? A seven-yard strike puts this one on a knife edge.

Final score: Baltimore 3-17 LA Rams

Another bad day for the Ravens. Never has a team been more relieved to enter their bye week. Hope they get healthy to push the Steelers for the AFC North crown.

ShareTOUCHDOWN! Colts 31-27 Cardinals 8:51, 3rd quarter

Jonathan Taylor smashes in from the one-yard line. A vintage season is in the making for the running back, who has cracked 100 yards.

Share

Jaguars 12-20 Seahawks 6:16, 4th quarter

The Jaguars have the ball and continue to take one step forward and two back with penalties stifling their progress. Lawrence though is doing enough until he misses Washington with a wild throw out of bounds on the right at 3&6. Seahawks take over after the punt.

Share

Five of these seven are separated by only one score here as the fourth quarters wind away. It is (mostly) anyone’s game! The Rams and Steelers look to have their Ws locked up. Nice work if you can get it.

TOUCHDOWN! Steelers 23-6 Browns 14:55, 4th quarter

Rodgers finds his big man Metcalfe open for an easy 25-yard touchdown catch. Another strong day for the veteran QB with 224 yards so far against one of the league’s better defenses. He is enjoying life on the banks of the three rivers.

Share

Saints 19-25 Patriots 9:49, 4th quarter
Stefon Diggs makes a spectacular catch on a long bomb only to be penalised for offensive pass interference. A slight push off chalks off the grab. The Saints then take over after a risky throw from Maye. Tough break for New England. Now can New Orleans take control?

ShareTOUCHDOWN! Dolphins 20-26 Chargers 7:56, 4th quarter

Achane does it again. This time he sprints across to the left and has a free run in for the touchdown from four yards out.

ShareTOUCHDOWN! Panthers 27-24 Cowboys 8:51, 3rd quarter

Young and McMillan hook up again for a second touchdown from two yards out. This Cowboys defense is being destroyed by their former running back Rico Dowdle. He has 155 yards and is averaging 6.5 per carry.

ShareTOUCHDOWN! Jaguars 12-20 Seahawks 13:00, 4th quarter

Veteran receiver Tim Patrick puts a bow on the scratchy drive that the Jags have worked very hard to get over the line. Great 26-yard throw from Lawrence and the comeback is on. Unfortunately they come up short on the two-yard conversion and stay eight behind the Seahawks. Big stop.

ShareTOUCHDOWN(S)! Colts 17-24 Cardinals 1:22, 3rd quarter

Jacoby Brissett is cooking for the Cardinals. A hot start to the second half has them on top after short touchdown throws to Trey McBride and Greg Dortch. The backup is outplaying Colts QB Daniel Jones at the moment.

Share

Jaguars 6-20 Seahawks 0:00, 3rd quarter

Rough one for the Jaguars. Trevor Lawrence finds Brian Thomas for the touchdown but it is called back due to Travis Hunter lining up offside. They go for it on 4th & 5 and get it though to keep the chains moving. Some hope yet here.

ShareTOUCHDOWN! Panthers 20-24 Cowboys 2:38, 3rd quarter

The George Pickens-Dak Prescott connection continues to flourish for Dallas as the receiver makes a short catch and turns it into six points. Dak is doing his MVP consideration no harm at all with his third touchdown pass of the game, he has 214 yards total too.

A shootout is developing in Carolina, can Bryce Young keep rolling?

TOUCHDOWN! Dolphins 13-23 Chargers 3:55, 3rd quarter

Chargers are charging now as Kimani Vidal survives a big hit as he falls into the corner of the endzone for a seven-yard catch and score.

ShareTOUCHDOWN! Steelers 16-3 Browns 8:51, 3rd quarter

DK Metcalfe moves the Steelers into the red zone with a 25-yard catch. Pittsburgh getting aggressive trying to push the ball down field. Jaylen Warren then holds up his end of the bargain on the ground with an 11-yard rumble. Aaron Rodgers then starts calling the shots, throws one across his body after telling his receiver exactly where he wants him with a wag of his finger. The tight end Connor Heyward does as he is told and makes the contested catch to put the Steelers well on top.

ShareTOUCHDOWN! Ravens 3-17 Rams 10:20, 3rd quarter

And in an instant the game looks out of sight for Baltimore. A Zay Flowers fumble coughs the ball straight back to the Rams who capitalise completely. Tyler Higbee’s eight-yard touchdown catch has the scoreline looking much more palatable for LA. Brutal luck for the Ravens, nothing going right for them at the moment.

ShareTOUCHDOWN! Dolphins 13-16 Chargers 7:26, 3rd quarter

Justin Herbert puts the Chargers ahead with a rapid throw to Ladd McConkey for a five-yard score. Great to see last season’s high octane tandem finding their rhythm again.

ShareTOUCHDOWN! Jaguars 6-20 Seahawks 10:14, 3rd quarter

Seattle take over after the break with a nice mix of run and pass to move into the red zone. The pick of the bunch being a 29-yard catch and run for Kooper Cupp who then banks his first touchdown of the year to finish the drive. Great to see him finish off a route braking into the left corner and making a tough catch falling to the floor. Nice 11-yard throw too from Darnold. The QB is having another brilliant day.

The Jaguars need an answer as they are suddenly deep in the hole.

Kyren Williams slams in on the goalline to put the Rams up by a score. Great start after a miserable first half.

ShareTOUCHDOWN! Panthers 20-17 Cowboys 13:39, 3rd quarter

Revenge game alert! Rico Dowdle catches a 36-yard strike and walks into the endzone. The Cowboys passing defense continues to struggle as they are making Bryce Young look like prime Dan Marino. Before that Young found Jimmy Horn for another long gain of 34 yards.

Ravens 3-3 Rams 14:09, 3rd quarter

We are back underway in Baltimore with good news for LA as Puka Nacua is warming up on the sideline. The receiver injured a foot jumping and falling awkwardly in the endzone in the first quarter. The Rams pulled off a huge stop at the end of the first half keeping Derrick Henry out from the one-yard line.

Jaguars 6-13 Seahawks 0:10, 2nd quarter

Seattle capitalise on the Jags flub with a 53-yard field goal from Jason Myers. What should have been a one-point gap is now seven after the miss from 46 from Cam Little.

Share

Jaguars 6-10 Seahawks 0:58, 2nd quarter

It’s no good! Jacksonville’s promising drive ends with nothing after a huge sack from defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence stops the Jags in their tracks and they miss the field goal. Very disappointing way to end the half. Are the Jags showing they are a little overrated at 4-1? I would say a tentative yes. Lawrence is struggling a bit while the protection has been poor leading to three sacks. 13/21 for the QB for 139 yards.

Jacksonville are moving again. Parker Washington runs up the sideline and a weak attempt at a tackle lets him scamper for 17 yards. ShareTOUCHDOWN! Jaguars 6-10 Seahawks 8:34, 2nd quarter

Beautiful throw and catch from Sam Darnold and Jaxson Smith-Njigba. The wide receiver races by the covering defender who cannot even begin to keep pace and catches the perfect rainbow throw on the edge of the endzone. A 61-yard piece of passing perfection.

ShareTOUCHDOWN! Saints 13-14 Patriots 9:42, 2nd quarter

The drive goes from good to even better as a fake bubble screen bamboozles the Seahawks defense and leaves Brian Thomas Jr wide open. This time Lawrence finds his receiver and Thomas walks it into the endzone. A 21-yard TD puts the Jags on top. Sadly Cam Little misses the extra point for the Jags.

SharePreamble

There are no international breaks here people, welcome to week six of the NFL. A helter-skelter set of seven games kick off at 1pm (EST) over on the east coast of the US and 6pm (BST) in the UK. But first we have been blessed by even earlier gridiron in London where the winless New York Jets remain so after a 13-11 defeat to Denver. The Broncos defense ruled the day, as they often do, as they terrorised Justin Fields with nine sacks. The pass coverage was decent too, the Jets finished with -10 passing yards. Minus 10. Yikes.

Your magnificent septet:

Baltimore Ravens v LA Rams

Carolina Panthers v Dallas Cowboys

Indianapolis Colts v Arizona Cardinals

Jacksonville Jaguars v Seattle Seahawks

Miami Dolphins v LA Chargers

New Orleans Saints v New England Patriots

Pittsburgh Steelers v Cleveland Browns

After a successful mission to Dublin, the Steelers return from their bye week for an AFC North classic with the Cleveland Browns. At 3-1 Pittsburgh will be confident they can keep a firm grip at the division’s summit with a victory over their struggling rivals. Key to victory for Pittsburgh will be unleashing the pass rush on Cleveland’s rookie quarterback Dillion Gabriel. Steelers linebacker Nick Herbig is the man to watch for splash plays that could wreck Gabriel’s second game running the 1-4 Browns offense. The young buck will hopefully have brought his notebook as his opposite number Aaron Rodgers makes his 245th start.

Elsewhere in the AFC North the Ravens host an NFC interloper in the LA Rams. Sean McVay’s team arrive in Baltimore more than a little irked after dropping a divisional game to the Mac Jones-led San Francisco 49ers. So who better to face when you’re angry and want to set the record straight? Cooper Rush. The beleaguered backup QB is fresh from leading the Ravens to the largest home defeat in their history last week. It is not all his fault though. An injured defense depleted of its big names has put head coach, John Harbaugh, in a tough spot at 1-4. Next week’s bye cannot come quickly enough to get Lamar Jackson back but first can they pull off a morale-boosting upset against the Rams?

Finally, a heavyweight clash between the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-1) and the Seattle Seahawks (3-2) is going down in Duuuuval. The record is fantastic for the Jags, but are they all that? They might need to rely on luck a little less today after using all of it up and then some to beat the Chiefs with a 99-yard pick six and miraculous scoring scramble from Trevor Lawrence. Jacksonville’s defense was shredded by Patrick Mahomes so a visit from an MVP contender in Sam Darnold and a sublime Seattle offense is rather sub-optimal. However the Jags will hope the arrival of cornerback Greg Newsome this week from Cleveland can help contain phenomenal wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Edge defender Travon Walker should also be back to beef up the Jags pass rush.
