When I saw the New York Times breaking news alert that the great Diane Keaton had died, my brain couldn’t comprehend it. Diane was so full of life and relatively young. Tributes immediately started pouring in, including Kate Hudson’s, which will leave you sobbing.
One tribute that caught me and many others by surprise was Belinda Carlisle’s (embedded above). Carlisle is the iconic lead singer of The Go-Go’s and became a solo pop sensation in the 1980s with hits like “Heaven Is a Place on Earth.” Embedded below.
Turns out that Diane Keaton directed that music video and “I Get Weak,” embedded below.
@belindacarlisle: I cant! 💔💔💔 Diane Keaton was such a talent and a BIG part of my career. She directed two videos of mine – “Heaven Is A Place on Earth” and the video for “I Get Weak.”
She was kind and eccentric and I was blessed to know her. RIP Diane, you will be missed. 💔
When I was in high school, back in the day when MTV was one of the most popular channels on cable, I spent hours watching it and always loved Belinda’s videos. It probably didn’t help that I had a huge crush on her too. As I got older and more mature, I came to love watching Diane Keaton’s movies, and thanks to her incredible Hollywood career, her legacy will continue to inspire and entertain for many generations.
