LeBron James is getting candid about his relationship with his wife Savannah James, and what it was like for the two to welcome their first child and move in together at a young age.

LeBron, 40, opened up about the experience during an appearance on the latest episode of Dear Media’s Everybody’s Crazy podcast, which is co-hosted by Savannah, 39, and April McDaniel.

“As far as a relationship, I think having a baby at a young age and us moving in together … [was different for me],” LeBron said in an exclusive clip from the episode shared with PEOPLE ahead of its Tuesday, Oct. 14, premiere.

“My wife comes from a two-parent household and siblings in the house,” LeBron said during the podcast. “I don’t come from that.”

He continued, “It was my mom and my uncles, and then just friends and girls and guys just coming in, you know? S—, that’s what I grew up on. So, me settling down and deciding that she’s going to be the one that’s in the house, giving her the key or the garage door code, that s— was different, bro.”

The NBA superstar joined the podcast alongside streamer Kai Cenat as part of the show’s “boyfriend edition” episodes, which kick off the show’s sixth season.

LeBron and Savannah — both Akron, Ohio, natives — have been together since high school and welcomed their first son, LeBron “Bronny” James Jr., in October 2004. The couple married in September 2013 and now share three children together: Bronny, 21, Bryce Maximus, 18, and Zhuri Nova, 10.

The Los Angeles Lakers star made NBA history when he and Bronny played together, becoming the first father-son duo in league history to play together on the same team at the same time.

LeBron’s second-oldest son, Bryce, is currently gearing up to play for the University of Arizona as a freshman this season.

Throughout the conversation with Savannah on Everybody’s Crazy, she and LeBron discussed the differences in their childhoods and how that impacted their own relationship as they grew older.

As LeBron pointed out during their chat, Savannah grew up with married parents and four siblings. Meanwhile, the future NBA legend grew up without any siblings and was raised by his single mother, Gloria James.

LeBron explained during the episode that growing up “in the projects in Akron, Ohio, and not having s—” led him to grow up with a scarcity mindset he says he still carries today.

“It’s hard for me sometimes to take risks,” the NBA star said, adding that he’d be “devastated” if he had to start over financially.

“I have a lot of more risky friends, and friends that are less risky,” LeBron said. “But for me, like, when I’m talking to my business partners and s— like that, financial advisers, you know, accountants, all that type of s—. My financial adviser, the first thing I told him when he wanted to manage my money was if you steal my money, bro, or if I’m broke, bro, I’m letting you know, bro, it ain’t going to be good for you.”

He added, “I swear to god, I’m really like that, because I can’t start over. There’s no way. None of us sitting here can start over. I’m not Monopoly-ing this. I’m not starting back at, ‘Pass go and you collect $200 to start back at go,’ No, too far gone at this point.”

LeBron is entering his record-setting 23rd NBA season, which begins this month amid speculation that it could be the all-time NBA leading scorer’s final year in the league.
