The Indiana Pacers had a dream run last season, contending for the title in the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Their star point guard, Tyrese Haliburton, played phenomenally the entire season until game seven of the finals, when he ruptured his right Achilles tendon, ending his and Indiana’s hopes of winning the title.

The Thunder went on to win the championship, but the Pacers’ problems didn’t end there. MRI scans confirmed Haliburton’s injury scare to the extent that the team announced he would be missing the entire 2025-26 NBA season due to that injury.

Now, while Indiana prepares to kick-start the new campaign without their star, WNBA and Indiana Fever rising star Aliyah Boston backed the Pacers in the upcoming season despite Haliburton’s absence.

What Did Fever Star Aliyah Boston Say About the Pacers for the 2025-26 NBA Campaign?

In the latest episode of the “Post Moves” podcast with former WNBA superstar Candace Parker, Boston was asked to reflect on which NBA team she would side with in the upcoming campaign besides the favorites, OKC.

The 2023 WNBA Rookie of the Year said, “Yeah, I am still riding with my Pacers though. We’re going to shock the league. Stand strong.”

Aliyah backed her claim by providing the example of her team, the Fever, which managed to reach the WNBA semifinals despite missing out on several key players due to injuries throughout the season. However, in five grueling games, the Fever went down fighting against the eventual champions, the Las Vegas Aces.

How Did Haliburton React to Seeing the Heartfelt Gesture by Indiana Fans?

Indiana fans hope to see their star man back on the court soon. In the meantime, as a beautiful gesture, many fans from Indiana sent Haliburton heartfelt cards via mail and email, wishing him a speedy recovery.

Upon seeing the letters sent to him by his fans wishing a speedy recovery inside the Pacers training facility, Haliburton said, “Every letter is obviously a different person showing love. It’s pretty special. I dont even know where to start.”

He added, “Pacer fans, what’s up, guys? Here I am in front of a lot of letters that came from you all. It’s been a tough time, and these are more than what I have already seen, and a lot came electronically. So, I appreciate you all for your love and support.”

Haliburton concluded, “It’s been a rough couple of months for me, but I am getting better. I appreciate all the love and support that not only I but also our team and our group have received. It means the world to me, and I will cherish it for a very long time.”

Indiana is currently 2-1 in the preseason and will play its last preseason game against the Spurs on Friday before the new season’s opening night. On that night, it will take on the Thunder in a repeat of last season’s finals on Oct. 23.
