Body of missing man recovered from Columbia River near Irrigon

IRRIGON — A three-day search for a missing man in the Columbia River ended Tuesday night when recovery teams located and recovered his body near Irrigon, according to the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office.
The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office announced at 8:44 p.m. on Oct. 14 through its Facebook page that a dive team had recovered the man’s body. While authorities did not publicly identify him, Beccie Liddell confirmed the victim was her husband, Corrie Liddell.
“Although this was a tragic accident, we are grateful we were able to make the recovery for the family,” the sheriff’s office said in a post.
In the sheriff’s post, Dazia Stiefel, daughter of Liddell, wrote, “This is my dad. Thank you for any help provided and to all the people out searching for him right now. We appreciate any positive thoughts and prayers as well.”
More than 600 people reacted to the post, with over 130 commenting to offer prayers, condolences and support.
Breze Liddell, another of Liddell’s daughters, shared a photo of herself with her father.
Multiple agencies and community members assisted in the search, including the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, Boardman Fire Department, Columbia Basin Dive Rescue, the Liddell family and local volunteers.
Authorities have not released additional details. The investigation is ongoing.
