Katherine Fitzpatrick, the wife of major winner Matt Fitzpatrick, started Open Championship week by trolling his family.

“Let’s mark my husband’s golf balls up for the Open,” she said before showing off two balls that read, “I love you,” and “MF is cute” in a video posted to her Instagram where she has over 16,000 followers.

“I always mark my husband’s golf balls up for every tournament he plays. It’s just like a special way for me to get involved. Most of the time I do hearts and stars, but sometimes if it’s more of a serious tournament I’ll do fish,” she said tongue-in-cheek while trolling Fitzpatrick’s father who was sitting close by.

The English golfer put together his best season to date back in 2022 when he finished in the top 25 in all four major championships while winning the U.S. Open and finishing top 5 in the PGA Championship. Since then, though, he’s managed just two top 10 finishes in the last 12 major tournaments with a T-10 at the Masters in 2022 and a T-8 at this year’s PGA Championship.

He’s well on his way to another top 10 finish this weekend though after entering the weekend just one shot off the lead of Scottie Scheffler. As he was preparing to take the course alongside the world No. 1, Fitzpatrick’s wife offered a one-word message along with a photo of the couple.

“Fitzmagic,” she said in the caption of the post.

He’s made the cut in all three majors so far this season, but Fitzpatrick has never finished higher than a tie for 20th in the Open. After an opening bogey on Saturday, he sits just two shots off the lead and in contention for a second major.
