Dos Pueblos girls tennis captured the Channel League championship with an 11-7 victory over crosstown rival San Marcos on Thursday in Goleta.

The Chargers went 8-0 against league opponents to finish atop the standings ahead of the second-place Royals.

Dos Pueblos leaned on Mel Mayo and Isla Herrera in singles, as they each went 3-0 to collect more than half of the team’s overall points.

In doubles, the Charger pairings of Zella Cassidy/Sonia Flathman and Atria Husein/Kaitlyn Marden picked up two wins apiece.

San Marcos mixed up its lineup with two of its top singles players coming together for doubles. Kate Selby and Tate Jaeger went 2-0 on the day in their shift from singles to doubles.

Meanwhile, Riley Beainy/Paia Lowry, Mya Shenoda/Sabrina Rashti and Elana Rowan/Jacqui Wilson all earned doubles wins for the Royals.

Stella Mast and Leah Shenoda rounded out the San Marcos points with one win apiece in singles action.

The Royals and Chargers will compete in the Channel League Individuals Tournament on Monday and Tuesday.

Cate 17, Laguna Blanca 1

The Rams rolled to a lopsided win over the Owls on Thursday in Carpinteria.

Ivy Huang and Reyna Takahashi continued their stellar singles seasons with a pair of 3-0 sweeps, while Lisa Hasebe and Riya Mitera tallied one singles win apiece.

Meanwhile, Cate secured a complete sweep in doubles play as Elsie Chamberlain/Claire Bianchi and Claire Tang/Edie Abbott each went 3-0.

Chelsea Newlove partnered with Elly Edwards for a pair of doubles wins before rounding out the scoring with a victory alongside Evita Ferrone.

“It is always tough to play Cate in Carpinteria, but the Laguna players continued to improve their individual games,” Laguna Blanca head coach Santiago Segovia said.

Laguna Blanca will host Villanova Prep for its regular-season finale on Monday. Meanwhile, Cate will be back in action for the Tri-Valley League Individuals on Tuesday.

Carpinteria High 15, Channel Islands 3

The Warriors continued to roll through the Citrus Coast League with a big win over Channel Islands on Thursday.

With the victory, Carpinteria improved to 15-1 on the season and a perfect 9-0 against league opponents.

“Overall, I was pleased with our plan for the day and to push their limits a bit,” Warrior head coach Charles Bryant said. “I do want to see us become more active and aggressive at the net, however. If we can start to do that, then we will be heading in the right direction come playoff time.”

Aubrey Alcaraz and Caroline Cooney each secured 3-0 sweeps in singles play, while Abby Gobbell went 2-1 on the day.

In doubles, the pairings of Charlotte Cooney/Cailyn Gillen and Mina Handall/Emily Banks each won all three of their matchups and Kacy Kramer/Sadie West went 1-0.

Santa Barbara High 12, Ventura 6

The Dons secured a Channel League win over the Cougars on Thursday.

Nicole Buist remained undefeated against league opponents by going 2-0 in singles play, while Iris Heckes and Maddie Savellano each earned one singles win.

Meanwhile, Santa Barbara High dominated the doubles action thanks in part to 3-0 sweeps from Violet Marr/Kana Wolf and Sky O’Reilly/Makena Taylor.

Kate Hashbarger/Lucky Kronberg rounded out the Dons’ points with two doubles wins.

Santa Barbara High will compete in the Channel League Individuals on Monday.
