ST PAUL, Minn. — Nearly 300 workers will be permanently laid off in December after it was announced that one of the state’s leading paving material providers was closing more than a dozen facilities statewide.Â
OMG Midwest, Inc.. which operates locally under the name Minnesota Paving & Materials, recently sent a WARN (Worker Adjustment and Restraining Notification) letter to the State Rapid Response team announcing it will be shutting down 14 facilities across central and southern Minnesota, resulting in 297 people losing their jobs. Layoffs will begin Dec. 19, 2025.
According to the letter, the company provided the Minnesota Department of Employment & Economic Development a notice about the layoffs. The company’s website says it began as four local companies and evolved into one of the state’s leading providers in asphalt, aggregate and paving services.
