Pittsburgh unveiled its brand new Walk of Fame Monday in the Strip District, featuring 10 inductees in the inaugural class with bronze stars in place for the big reveal. Located at the Strip District Terminal, the Walk of Fame honors people from the Pittsburgh area who have left a significant mark on the nation’s cultural heritage. The inductees include George Benson, Nellie Bly, Andrew Carnegie, Rachel Carson, Fred Rogers, Dr. Jonas Salk, Andy Warhol, Roberto Clemente, August Wilson, and Michael Keaton.Keaton was at the induction in person, along with the children of Rogers, Clemente and Salk. “To be honored here, included among this inaugural group of honorees, who not only shaped Pittsburgh, but shaped the world, this means the world to me,” Keaton said.Pittsburgh’s Wall of Fame was founded by Nancy Polinsky Johnson, who said, “This really is a dream of mine that others have bought into that is coming true, and I am just so pleased.”Members of the Walk of Fame committee will start receiving nominations for the next round on honorees in January.VIDEO BELOW OF KEATON SPEAKING AT THE EVENT: Wilson’s widow, Constanza Romero Wilson, as well as representatives from the Andy Warhol Museum, Carnegie Library and Rachel Carson Homestead were also in attendance.
