Nevada Sports Net’s Chris Murray will break down each of Nevada’s 13 scholarship players prior to the Wolf Pack basketball team’s season opener Nov. 4 against Louisiana Tech. We will count the players down in alphabetical order using their last names. Today’s player: Jeriah Coleman

Likely role: Coleman is entering his sixth college season, which was made possible thanks to the NCAA’s temporary one-year exemption for junior-college players. Coleman spent two seasons at Saint Francis (Pa.) before one in junior college and now the last three at Nevada. He was going to redshirt last year before the JuCo exemption, which allowed him to get into 12 games and see sparse playing time (52 minutes, 13 points, 14 rebounds, five blocks). Coleman is expected to back up Joel Armotrading, a transfer from UC Riverside who should start at center for the Wolf Pack. Coleman could see 5 to 10 minutes per game as the only other center on Nevada’s roster (freshman Ethan Croley would be the third option in a traditional lineup). Coleman is an excellent athlete for his size and good rebounder who can block shots. He should be a better fit for Nevada’s increased pace this season. His offensive game is limited to lobs and second-chance points around the rim. An experienced player who has yet to earn a huge role at the Division I level, Coleman is a nice depth piece and insurance policy for Nevada should Armotrading run into an injury.
