“Today” host Savannah Guthrie said Monday that a clunky attempt to ask Khloe Kardashian a “dishy” question was a mistake she dearly regretted. (Watch the video below.)

Prompted by Andy Cohen asking Guthrie and her morning show colleagues about “an on-air blooper that you’ll never repeat,” Guthrie chimed in on a 2012 interview with the reality star.

“I asked Khloe Kardashian like 10 seconds before we were going to break about the rumors that her father wasn’t her father,” Guthrie recalled, referring to rumors that the late Robert Kardashian, one of O.J. Simpson’s defense attorneys, was not her real dad but that the fallen football star was.

“Oh, that was so bad,” Cohen added.

“I was so embarrassed because I felt like all this pressure,” Guthrie continued. “I just started, and I felt like the producers wanted me to ask this dishy question, but I didn’t want to.”

Guthrie said she let the time for a commercial break run down before she sprung her query. “And Khloe, like, what about this rumor that Robert Kardashian’s not really your father?” she recalled asking as producers counted down from 10 seconds to commercial.

“I was so embarrassed, and she was such a class act,” Guthrie explained. “She’s like, ‘Ah, nothing to it.’”

Guthrie looked back in relief.

“We made the break,” she said. “I asked the question I didn’t want to. Khloe was a total class act and a doll.”

Kardashian actually joked in that interview that she didn’t know who her father was before time ran out.
