Tosin Adarabioyo has delivered glowing praise on one of his newer teammates who signed for Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

We’re now two months into the 2025-26 season, which is shaping up to be another intriguing one for Chelsea.

The challenge for Blues head coach Enzo Maresca is to balance the Champions League alongside the domestic commitments. At the moment, his side currently sit fifth in the Premier League table, collecting 14 points from their opening eight top-flight matches.

Reports claim that Maresca has doubts about the Chelsea squad because he doesn’t think they can compete across every competition. Even so, there was plenty of recruitment before the season started to bring some fresh faces into the squad.

Chelsea centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo, 28, claims that teammate Jorrel Hato has been excellent since he joined from Ajax in the summer. In particular, he shared that the 19-year-old defender is catching the eye in training at Cobham.

When asked how Hato has settled in at Chelsea, Tosin said via HaytersTV: “Yeah, very well. He’s working incredibly hard every single day, learning our system and getting used to the way we play and English football. We’re all very happy with Jorrel.

“To be honest, I think his all-round game is top. The way I’ve seen him go forward in training is amazing. The way he’s composed and the way he brings that aggressivity into his game is something that is great to see.”

Unlike some other summer signings at Chelsea, Hato has had to be fairly patient so far this campaign.

The versatile defender, who can play left-back or centre-half, has made five appearances across all competitions so far, starting just three times. He’s behind Marc Cucurella in the pecking order for the full-back role, while there are numerous different centre-backs in the squad vying to start.

Hopefully, the Dutch teenager will begin to get more opportunities ahead of a busy schedule.

On Tuesday, Maresca claims he’s very happy with Hato since his arrival, explaining that he’s beginning to adapt to the physicality and intensity of English football.

It would be a huge boost for Hato if Maresca decides to start him on Wednesday night against Ajax.

The left-footed defender will surely be desperate to come up against his former club, where he developed as a youngster into a Netherlands international.

Of course, the logic is there for him being eased into the team as he adapts to his new home, but it feels like the perfect environment to throw him into a match against his old team. If not, there should be concerns about what it could do for his confidence.

Cucurella certainly needs a rest because of the amount of football he’s got through in 2025, so Hato should come into the starting line-up in midweek.
