William Byron – William Byron had a rough afternoon this spring at Martinsville and finished an asterisk mark 22nd. If his race would’ve been incident free, I think he would’ve been a top ten performer, but multiple problems derailed his afternoon. In the race, Byron started 10th, was in 9th on lap 30 but then during a caution around lap 31, the #24 team had a 23-second pit stop that dropped Byron deep in the field. When Stage #1 ended, Byron finished 25th. When Stage #2 ended, Byron rebounded back up to 13th. Then in the last Stage, Byron was in 12th on lap 260 but then a green flag pit cycle started and Byron pitted early, only to get burned by a caution during it which doomed him to his 22nd.
Josh Berry – Josh Berry looked great early this spring at Martinsville but he finished an asterisk mark 32nd. In the race, Berry started 14th, was up to 13th on lap 30 and then during a caution just after that, he elected not to pit and got the lead. Berry then led the next 40 laps but then on lap 71 during the next caution, Bubba Wallace had contact with him on pit road and somehow after that, Berry had major electrical problems which ended his competitive afternoon. If his race would’ve been incident free, he may have very well been a contender.
Alex Bowman – Alex Bowman was arguably a top ten contender this spring at Martinsville but he finished an asterisk mark 27th. In the race, Bowman finished 2nd in Stage #1, was running in 7th on lap 120 but then a few laps later when a caution came out, he pitted twice which dropped him to the back. Bowman’s fate was then sealed from that point on and he never bounced back and struggled in traffic.
