Following a comfortable win in his opening match against Gabriel Diallo, Auger-Aliassime defeated former US Open champion Marin Cilic to advance to the quarterfinals.
The Canadian was tested in his clash against Cilic, with the Croatian forcing him to two consecutive tiebreaks.
Auger-Aliassime emerged victorious in both shootouts, however, to reach the last eight of the ATP 500 event for the third time in his career.

Fresh off his triumph in Brussels, the world number 12 has enjoyed a hot run of form during the indoor hard-court season so far.
As well as seeking his fourth title of 2025 in Basel, Auger-Aliassime is continuing to push for a spot in the ATP Finals.

Currently, Auger-Aliassime is ninth in the ‘Race to Turin’, the annual battle for one of eight spots in the year-end tournament, held in Turin, Italy.
With his victory over Cilic, Auger-Aliassime is really beginning to put the pressure on those above him in the race, which will go down to the wire.

The 25-year-old has seen his chances of qualifying boosted after contender Ben Shelton lost his opening match at the Swiss Indoors.
Shelton, sixth in the race, fell to Jaume Munar in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, as he continues to struggle in his return from a shoulder injury he sustained at the US Open.
Auger-Aliassime received even more good news when Daniil Medvedev crashed out in his second match at the Vienna Open.
After winning the Almaty Open by beating Corentin Moutet in the final, the Frenchman earned his revenge against the Russian in Vienna by knocking him out of the tournament in the round of 16.
Now, Auger-Aliassime is in a great position to punch his ticket to Turin and will face Munar next at the Swiss Indoors.

Munar has enjoyed a strong start to his run in Basel so far, with two victories under his belt.
The Spaniard has yet to drop a set, beating both Remy Bertola and Shelton convincingly.
He has faced his quarterfinal opponent, Auger-Aliassime, just once before, with the two stars meeting on the clay courts of Rio de Janeiro in 2019.
Auger-Aliassime came out on top in that clash and will hope to do the same in their second career bout as he bids to win the Swiss Indoors for a third time in four years.
