Rain begins to move into the state this evening, bringing with it an isolated severe threat. Heavy rain leading to flooding will be the norm Friday and Saturday.
TODAY: Increasing clouds. Highs are in the upper 70s, with a light southeasterly wind.
TONIGHT: Showers and storms increase from west to east through this evening. An isolated severe risk for wind, hail, and a tornado will be better realized southwest. Lows fall to the upper 50s.
FRIDAY: Cloudy. On and off heavy downpours. Highs are cooler and in the low to mid 60s. Winds are breezy out of the southeast.
SATURDAY: Widespread rain continues. Cloudy and cool. Highs will be in the low 60s. Southeast winds will be at 10-15 mph.
As the low gets near the Central and Southern Plains states, rain will increase in coverage this evening through the overnight. The low level jet will move into the western half of the state, which will make the tornado threat non zero. An isolated wind and hail threat will also exist. We’ll transition to more of a heavy rain and flash flood threat Friday into Saturday. Commutes may slow and outdoor activities will likely have to be moved indoors. Widespread rainfall of 2″-4″ is common, with higher totals of 5″-6″ possible. Rain should finally wind down through Sunday morning.
