Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba will miss Arsenal’s Carabao Cup fourth round tie against Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday, head coach Mikel Arteta has confirmed.
But Declan Rice, Riccardo Calafiori and Bukayo Saka are all available for the game at the Emirates Stadium.
“(Saliba) is out,” Arteta told a pre-match press conference. “We are assessing him but he won’t be involved in this match. Declan Rice will be available, Calafiori as well.
“It looks as well that (Martinelli) is going to be out. We have to do some more tests and see the extent of the injury, but this game is going to be too early for him.”
Asked about Saka, Arteta added: “He’s going to be fine.”
Martinelli left the pitch limping following Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday, with Arteta later saying the forward felt “uncomfortable” and may have sustained a muscle injury.
Martinelli had replaced Saka on 66 minutes at the Emirates Stadium after the England winger missed out on training prior to the match through illness.
Saliba was substituted at the half-time break against Palace and replaced by Cristhian Mosquera. It was the second time this season that Mosquera, 21, has replaced an injured Saliba, having done so in the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.
Rice and Calafiori were also substituted in the 82nd minute of the game with Arteta saying afterwards that the pair were struggling with “knocks”.
Martin Odegaard remains out with a medial collateral (MCL) injury to his left knee and could be sidelined until after the November international break, while Noni Madueke and Kai Havertz are also unavailable.
