Floyd Roger Myers Jr., known for playing a young Will Smith in the hit 1990s sitcom “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” has died. He was 42.
Myers died of a heart attack early Wednesday morning, Oct. 29, at his home in Maryland, his mother Renee Trice told TMZ.
Trice also mourned her son’s death on Facebook by linking to a GoFundMe organized by Myers’ younger sister, Tyree.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of my beloved brother, Floyd Roger Myers Jr , who tragically left us today after a sudden heart attack,” Tyree wrote on the campaign page.
“He was a devoted father, loving brother, and friend whose kindness, laughter, and warmth touched everyone he met,” she wrote. “Roger leaves behind his four beautiful children — Taelyn, Kinsley, Tyler, and Knox — and our loving family is now facing the unimaginable loss of someone who meant everything to us.”
The GoFundMe will raise funds intended to relieve some of the financial burden left on Myers’ family, including the cost of funeral expenses and supporting the actor’s children.
“No contribution is too small — every donation, share, and word of support makes a difference. Your kindness and generosity mean more to us than words can express,” Tyree wrote. “From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with our family during this painful time.”
Myers appeared in a 1992 episode of “Fresh Prince.” He also portrayed a young Marlon Jackson in “The Jacksons: An American Dream” (1992), according to IMDb. He also made an appearance in the TV show “Young Americans” in 2000.
Myers also co-founded The Fellaship Mens Group, which aims to empower men to “lead, heal and thrive” through wellness programs, healing circles, workshops and service opportunities, according to its Instagram page and website. The organization also paid tribute to the late actor.
“RIP to our good brother @rocwonder one of our co founders. Gone but never will be forgotten,” an Instagram post read. “The mission will continue in your honor. Next mens meeting will be one for the books like we talked about! Love you bro, rest easy, big bro will take it from here.”
