Over the past few months, we’ve been getting scattered details about what Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 series will bring. Now, there’s more clarity on the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s camera setup, and it looks like Samsung is preparing a strong answer to Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup.
Even though the iPhones and Galaxy phones have always been head-to-head against each other, the upcoming Galaxy S26 series might make things more interesting. And the similarities across both lineups make that pretty obvious. The best of both worlds, actually.
Galaxy S26 series tipped to bring camera upgrades across the board
All three models, which now look to be Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra, are expected to get display upgrades thanks to the new M14 OLED panel, which should offer better brightness and efficiency. Only the S26 Ultra will include the new AI Privacy Display feature.
While Samsung may skip the “Pro” label this year, the camera specs originally linked to the Galaxy S26 Pro are reportedly being folded into the non-Ultra versions. According to insider ß, the Galaxy S26 Pro might still exist in some form, possibly merged or rebranded. Remarkably, Samsung doesn’t seem to have completely abandoned the Edge project either.
For the Galaxy S26 and S26+, the leaked camera specs include a 50MP ultrawide, a 50MP updated main sensor (either 1/1.3 or 1/1.56), and a 12MP 3x telephoto (possibly 1/2.55). The 3x sensor in question is said to outperform the one in the standard S26. Meanwhile, the 50MP ultrawide camera will likely appear across the lineup.

Moving to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, it might feature a 200MP updated main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide, a 50MP 5x telephoto, and one remaining mystery: an unknown 3x sensor. That last detail is still redacted, but ß predicts it could either be a 12MP 1/2.55 sensor. Or, a 50MP sensor to give the Ultra a clearer edge.

As always, it’s best to take these leaks with a grain of salt. Samsung’s plans could still change before launch, and given how many adjustments we’ve seen (or heard about), it wouldn’t be surprising. According to recent reports, Samsung may push the launch event to a later date.
