We’re down one Mormon wife, and we almost lost a second celebrity during “Halloween Night” on Dancing With the Stars. So, what will happen on “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Night”?
Last week, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Jen Affleck wasn’t able to rise on the judges’ leaderboard, and she just didn’t have the support she needed from viewers voting at home, so she was eliminated from the competition. Parent Trap actress Elaine Hendrix also had a rough night, sustaining an injury that left her unable to perform live, which forced the judges and audience to evaluate her last completed rehearsal performance. But Hendrix, at least, was cleared to return to the show, so she’ll be among the eight celebrities still competing for the Len Goodman Mirror Ball Trophy, along with remaining Mormon Wives star Whitney Leavitt, Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles, social media personality Alix Earle, reality star Dylan Efron, actress Danielle Fishel, wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin, and comedian Andy Richter.
Special guest Flavor Flav will join the judges’ panel to score competitive dances set to music from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees like Elton John, the White Stripes, Ozzy Osbourne, and Aerosmith. Those will be followed by team dances in which show hosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough will participate for the first time. Ribeiro will team up with Fishel, Leavitt, Chiles, and Efron on Team Chicago, while Hough joins forces with Richter, Irwin, Earle, and Hendrix on Team Kool. Those team dances will also feature live performances by Hall of Famers Chicago and Kool and the Gang.

That’s not all, though. The episode will feature an opening number to Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar on Me” and Public Enemy’s “Fight the Power.” There will also be a Mandy Moore-choreographed tour number to OutKast’s “Hey Ya!” And the troupe will dance to Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground.” Which routines are you looking forward to the most? And who will you be voting for to stay in the competition?
Dylan Efron and pro Daniella Karagach
Performance: Karagach incorporated some of Tonioli’s own dance moves from the “I’m Still Standing” music video for their jive to the Elton John classic.
Carrie Ann’s comments: It had “all the elements,” but there were three moments where he got “stuck” on the kicks and flicks.
Derek’s comments: “When in doubt, get your abs out,” it was a “great way to start the show,” but the kicks and flicks could have used more “energy.”
Flavor Flav’s comments: “From the floor to the roof, that dance right there was the groove.”
Bruno’s comments: “You just missed a pass,” but his footwork was good.
Scores: Carrie Ann (8), Derek (9), Flavor Flav (10), Bruno (9) = 36 out of 40
Alix Earle and pro Val Chmerkovskiy
Performance: “We’re going to have some Jersey representation,” says Earle of their leather-clad paso doble to “Livin’ On a Prayer” by New Jersey native Bon Jovi.
Carrie Ann’s comments: “Alix Earle, you’re in your fierce girl era,” setting the standard for the night’s multiple paso dobles, she was “in it to win it.”
Derek’s comments: “Pure paso power!” She was in full “control.”
Flavor Flav’s comments: “Your timing was great, you were so good.”
Bruno’s comments: “Alix, the paso doble bombshell, sexy as hell.” It looked like “two predators challenging each other,” and she’s “almost too hot to handle,” it was “brilliant.”
Scores: Carrie Ann (10), Derek (10), Flavor Flav (9), Bruno (10) = 39 out of 40
Andy Richter and pro Emma Slater
Performance: Slater choreographed a routine inspired by their journey of friendship for their contemporary to “God Only Knows” by The Beach Boys.
Carrie Ann’s comments: “That was a beautiful tribute to this wonderful partnership,” but what’s “remarkable” is that he’s showing what it’s like to learn how to dance, and it’s “heartwarming.”
Derek’s comments: “Thank you for embracing this process.” We’ve seen with this experience how he has shown his true self and broken himself open for the audience.
Flavor Flav’s comments: “Everything was right on point.”
Bruno’s comments: “So charming, so tender, it had a kind of childlike honesty,” which is what makes him so “relatable” to the audience.
Scores: Carrie Ann (7), Derek (7), Flavor Flav (9), Bruno (7) = 30 out of 40
Whitney Leavitt and pro Mark Ballas
Performance: Ballas embodied the matador and Leavitt the cape during their spider-themed paso doble to “No More Tears” by Ozzy Osbourne, which would have been just as fitting on “Halloween Night.”
Carrie Ann’s comments: “This is game on for tonight. It was sick and amazing,” but there were a few stumbles with her foot and she’d be remiss not to point it out.
Derek’s comments: “This ballroom is officially on fire. That paso rocked, it was classic, it was edgy, it was perfectly entangled and totally metal.” It was “perfection.”
Flavor Flav’s comments: “The charisma was great, the moves were great,” her timing was “on point.”
Bruno’s comments: “Ferociously intense, yet artistically exquisite.” It’s about the placement, and “you just did it perfectly.”
Scores: Carrie Ann (9), Derek (10), Flavor Flav (10), Bruno (10) = 39 out of 40
Danielle Fishel and pro Pasha Pashkov
Performance: Fishel was inspired by her cancer battle when tackling her contemporary routine to “Dream On” by Aerosmith. She also wanted to take Inaba’s advice to heart by expressing herself more boldly.
Carrie Ann’s comments: “You are small, but you do pack a punch.” She “told that story,” it was “well done.”
Derek’s comments: “You’re someone we all root for.” She glows, but it felt “a little disjointed.” Still, it was something she should be “proud of.”
Flavor Flav’s comments: “I ain’t gonna lie, it was great.” He’s looking for the timing and unison, and they were “on point.”
Bruno’s comments: “Something went wrong,” there was a “tiny mishap,” but they should be proud of what they achieved.
Scores: Carrie Ann (9), Derek (8), Flavor Flav (9), Bruno (8) = 34 out of 40
Elaine Hendrix and pro Alan Bersten
Performance: She’s back with a clean bill of health! But she had to take a couple of days off to heal, whether she tore a muscle or just pulled it. But she’s inspired by her advocacy for animals for her Viennese waltz to “What the World Needs Now Is Love” by Dionne Warwick.
Carrie Ann’s comments: “When I watch you dance, it feels so familiar. It’s the language I speak from my heart.” Her movements were “grounded in love,” and it was a “spectacular” performance.
Derek’s comments: “You are resilient, you’re radiant,” and her dancing was a “breath of fresh air.”
Flavor Flav’s comments: “You don’t move like you were hurt. You healed up beautifully. That was so amazing.”
Bruno’s comments: “That reall was a sumptuous performance, extremely elegant, light, flowing.” She compares her to Charlize Theron, and “you know how to sell it.”
Scores: Carrie Ann (9), Derek (9), Flavor Flav (10), Bruno (9) = 37 out of 40
Jordan Chiles and pro Ezra Sosa
Performance: Trying to recover from disappointment after last week’s scores, she embodied her inner Tina with her jazz number to “River Deep – Mountain High” by Ike and Tina Turner.
Carrie Ann’s comments: “You did not disappointment. You are ballsy, and you take the risk, and this one delivered.”
Derek’s comments: “The queen of rock and roll and the queen of the ballroom, beautiful.”
Flavor Flav’s comments: “Every battlefield you go on, you are a warrior and come out with a win.” Not only was it “nice, it was precise.”
Bruno’s comments: “I love you, my oh my!” It was a “spectacular acrobatic display,” and it was great to see her “wild side.”
Scores: Carrie Ann (10), Derek (9), Flavor Flav (10), Bruno (9) = 38 out of 40
Robert Irwin and pro Witney Carson
Performance: Irwin is the only male celeb performing paso doble, which means he’s being compared to Mark Ballas and Val Chmerkovskiy. Carson pushed him hard to execute his paso doble to “Icky Thump” by The White Stripes.
Carrie Ann’s comments: “Incredible choreography.” He is “in the zone at the right moment,” despite “teeny wobbles” at the beginning.
Derek’s comments: “You didn’t just dominate, you owned this arena.” There was a little “hiccup,” but it was “fantastic.”
Flavor Flav’s comments: “You are the brand new Fred Astaire out there.” It was “absolutely amazing.”
Bruno’s comments: “The thunder from down under,” he delivered a “superb” paso doble with the proper, traditional choreography.
Scores: Carrie Ann (9), Derek (9), Flavor Flav (10), Bruno (10) = 38 out of 40
Team Dances
Team Chicago – with a live performance of “25 or 6 to 4” by Chicago
Host Alfonso Ribeiro, Danielle (team captain) and Pasha, Whitney and Mark, Jordan and Ezra, and Dylan and Daniella
Performance: The team performed a routine inspired by the Blues Brothers.
Carrie Ann’s comments: It was “so tight, so clean,” “teamwork makes the dream work.”
Derek’s comments: “I like it! Well done.”
Flavor Flav’s comments: “Team Chicago is the bomb diggity.”
Bruno’s comments: “That was like watching a Quentin Tarantino movie.” It was “slick” and “cool.”
Scores: Carrie Ann (10), Derek (10), Flavor Flav (10), Bruno (10) = 40 out of 40
Team Kool – with a live performance of “Celebration” by Kool and the Gang
Host Julianne Hough, Andy (team captain) and Emma, Robert and Witney, Alix and Val, and Elaine and Alan
Performance: The dance is inspired by a graduating class celebrating their achievement. “We need these points, I want these points!” says Andy.
Carrie Ann’s comments: “It was fun and it was enjoyable, and the best part was watching you guys partner.”
Derek’s comments: “The other time was tighter more as a group,” but this time had good camaraderie and humor.
Flavor Flav’s comments: “Team Kool was cooler than four blocks of ice cubes.”
Bruno’s comments: “It was so much fun,” and it was “a celebration of friendship, we’re all in this together.”
Scores: Carrie Ann (9), Derek (10), Flavor Flav (10), Bruno (9) = 38 out of 40
