Raman has prior coaching experience in both the WNBA and the NBA.

SEATTLE — Sonia Raman will be introduced as the newest head coach of the Seattle Storm at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

KING 5+ will have live streaming coverage of the press conference beginning at 1 p.m.

Raman comes to Seattle after being part of the New York Liberty’s coaching staff during the 2025 season. Before coming to the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), Raman worked with the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

“Sonia is a trailblazer, an innovator and a leader in basketball analytics and strategy,” said Storm General Manager Talisa Rhea when the hire was announced. “Her diverse coaching experiences and deep focus on player development and connection make her an exceptional coach to lead our team into the next era. We look forward to her leadership as we pursue another WNBA championship.”

Raman becomes the league’s first head coach of Indian descent. She also brings an analytical background to the Storm, having spent over 10 years coaching at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

The Storm is coming off a 23-21 season in which the team advanced to the playoffs but fell in the first round to the Las Vegas Aces.
