Amsterdam, NY (WRGB) — A daycare employee in Montgomery County has been charged following an investigation into reported mistreatment of a child, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say 51-year-old Jennifer Pessolano of Canajoharie, was arrested on November 4 after a complaint was filed by a parent who discovered abrasions on their child after returning home from daycare. The child was enrolled at Sunshine Kids Corner in Amsterdam.

After a joint investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, and the Montgomery County Department of Social Services, Pessolano was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child (misdemeanor), and assault in the Third Degree (misdemeanor).

Investigators said the reported incident took place at the daycare facility where Pessolano was employed.

Pessolano was processed at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and released on an appearance ticket. She is scheduled to appear in Town of Amsterdam Court at a later date.
