WNBA analyst Rachel DeMita has drawn comparisons between Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry and Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark. Curry, a four-time NBA champion, has been credited with revolutionizing the game with his elite shooting and offensive skills. According to DeMita, Curry has a certain influence on the WNBA superstar.
In her “Courtside Club” podcast on Wednesday, DeMita referenced Curry’s recent appearance on LeBron James‘ and Steve Nash’s podcast, “Mind the Game,” where they talked about the Warriors star’s passing. While saying that the Fever are not better without Clark, DeMita said that both stars make their teammates better.
“Both of these players love to have the ball in their hands, but when they do give it up, it changes the spacing on the floor, it changes the way that other teams have to play defense,” DeMita said (Timestamp: 10:15).
DeMita added that when Curry is on the bench, the number of the Warriors’ rim attempts drops to 27%, compared to 45% when he is on the floor.
“That’s something that’s so similar even when you see the dynamic between Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston, how much more Aliyah Boston gets involved when Caitlin Clark is on the floor,” DeMita said (Timestamp: 10:42).
“A lot of that is because just the spacing that she creates, the kind of chaos, like Steph said, the kind of chaos that’s on the court just simply when she is on there.”
Curry is in his 17th season with Golden State. The 37-year-old superstar is hoping to lead his team to a fifth NBA title.
Caitlin Clark is coming off her second season, where she played just 13 games. The former Rookie of the Year was hounded by several injuries throughout the 2025 season.
Rachel DeMita suggests the Fever should adopt the Warriors’ coaching philosophy for Caitlin Clark
In the same podcast episode, WNBA analyst Rachel DeMita said that the Indiana Fever would benefit from adapting the Golden State Warriors’ playbook for Steph Curry. DeMita suggested that the Fever might unlock Caitlin Clark if they build their system around their superstar.
“You can just see how much the Warriors just put all of their trust into Steph,” DeMita said (Timestamp: 7:56). “And I feel like with Caitlin Clark, we maybe haven’t seen the same thing. At least we haven’t seen those things publicly.”
What made the Warriors a dynasty were schemes that focused on ball movement, spacing, and perimeter shooting, which are all strengths of Curry. For DeMita, these offensive schemes would work well for Clark’s playing style and could potentially push Indiana to become a championship contender.
In addition, DeMita said that Fever coach Stephanie White should put the same “trust” and “freedom” in Clark that multi-titled Warriors coach Steve Kerr has given to Curry.
