According to a senior corporate official, MediaTek has a lot of opportunities in India because of the country’s large AI talent pool and the willingness of electric vehicle manufacturers to embrace AI and powerful computing.
Director of Product Marketing for MediaTek’s Automotive Platform Rita Wu said PTI that the semiconductor manufacturer is aiming to increase its market share in India’s automotive industry by strategically concentrating on artificial intelligence (AI), scalable system-on-chips (SoCs), and next-generation connectivity solutions.
“I believe there is a lot of AI talent in the Indian industry. The attitude of OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) is the second factor.” “They want to do everything in their power to adjust to the offloads in their cars and are highly interested in AI.” “In addition to AI, they are searching for strong computing to enable more expensive solutions.” “That is highly beneficial and significant for the Indian market,” Wu stated.
The adoption of AI, the growing need for high-performance computing capabilities (CPU, GPU, and NPU), and improved power efficiency specifically designed for electric vehicles (EVs) are the three main industry developments Wu identified as influencing their plan agentic.
According to her, since power is so important to the EV market, there will be a huge demand for energy-efficient technologies.
MediaTek has expanded its product line beyond mobile phone chips to include satellite communications and automotive technology.
“Even EV two-wheeler manufacturers in India have begun utilising MediaTek’s AI-enabled chips for infotainment systems,” according to Sharique Khan, Director of Product Marketing for Europe at MediaTek Automotive Platform.
“We see that in the next three to four years, there will be adoption of AI and high computing, depending on the cost segment in India, from premium and scale down to the entry segment,” Khan stated.
He claimed that one of the main factors making AI-powered cockpit infotainment strategically significant for MediaTek is the growing demand for it across all Indian market sectors.
Regarding semiconductor quantities, Khan responded that they usually begin with premium categories before descending.
According to him, bespoke solutions will be crucial to the Indian EV sector.
