ST. CHARLES, Ill. (WGN) — A west suburban chiropractor is accused of secretly video taping his patients as they undressed or were partially unclothed, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.

David Hanson, 43, of Batavia, the owner of Hanson Family Chiropractic, faces felony charges of:

Producing child pornography, Class X felony (5 counts)

Disseminating child pornography, Class X felony (3 counts)

Possessing child pornography, Class 2 felony (6 counts)

Unauthorized video recording of a minor through/under the clothes, Class 3 felony (3 counts)

Investigators allege that Hanson recorded at least 186 of his patients, primarily girls and women. Their ages ranged from 3 years old to adults.

The investigation began in September with a cyber tip. The Kane County State’s Attorney says it led investigators to multiple cameras, specifically hidden behind vents and fans in a red light therapy room where patients undress in private for that particular therapy.

Investigators are actively working to identify the victims in the recordings and precisely when they took place. Hanson has been practicing since 2013, prosecutors added.

Hanson was also found to be possessing and disseminating multiple videos containing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) that were unrelated to his chiropractic practice, according to authorities.

“At this point, we do not know if any of the videos that were created by Dr. Hanson were shared in the way that other child sex abuse material (CSAM) has been shared. When we find that information, we will disclose that. Right now, we just want to work with the potential victims to make sure that they get help, that they know what is happening, and that they’re a part of this process because we’re not going to force people to be a part of this, but we do also want to give them answers,” Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser told WGN-TV.

“They went in for treatment and they went to somebody that they trusted and somebody who was trusted in this community and that trust was violated by him.”

Authorities are seeking anyone who believes Hanson victimized them. Anyone with additional information should call (630) 444-3322.
