The Boston Bruins will be without star forward Casey Mittelstadt for the foreseeable future.
Mittelstadt suffered an injury during Thursday night’s 3-2 overtime win over the Ottawa Senators. He didn’t travel with the team to Toronto to play the Maple Leafs on Saturday, and now, Bruins head coach Marco Sturm gave an update and revealed Mittelstadt is week-to-week.
“He’s week-to-week, but I think he’s doing better than we expected,” Sturm said, via Conor Ryan of The Boston Globe. “So hopefully we can get him on the ice as soon as possible.”
Although Mittelstadt is feeling better than expected, he still will be out for a couple of weeks.
Mittelstadt is off to a hot start as he’s recorded four goals and five assists for nine points in 15 games.

Marat Khusnutdinov moved up to center the top line alongside Morgan Geekie and David Pastrnak with Mittelstadt injured.
Without Mittelstadt, the Bruins defeated the Maple Leafs 5-3 to improve to 10-7-0. Sturm was also impressed with the team’s effort to get the win despite being without Mittelstadt and Charlie McAvoy.
“It feels good coming to Toronto, it is always not easy, especially when you are missing a few guys too,” Sturm said, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “But we kind of stuck with our game and just like I told the guys, for me it was a very impressive win. The way we played five-on-five, the way we finished the game, it was great to see.”
