No one mourns the wicked but everyone would mourn losing an expensive hat. Cynthia Erivo thought she had lost the Schiaparelli hat she wore to the Wicked Pt. 1 London premiere last year, but it turns out a fan had found it and held onto it for her. Outside the Palais Garnier in Paris, Erivo meets a fan who tells her that she has her lost hat. “Are you joking?” Erivo asks with wide eyes, as shown in a TikTok video. “Oh my god. May I have it back, please?” The fan, Clara, tells her that the hat is back at her house, as she wasn’t sure if she would bump into Erivo, but shows the Wicked star a photo of the hat before exchanging contact info with her team for the return.
In a video posted on November 9, Clara explains that she went to the London premiere with some friends and, while searching for them after the movie, she reentered the theater and saw the hat sitting on the floor. A custodian then asked if she wanted the hat; otherwise, it would be thrown away, so she took it to try to find the owner, not realizing who the hat actually belonged to. Her friends told her it was Erivo’s hat from the same night, and she had been trying to find a way to return it ever since. “I kept the hat for a year, and I just wanted to tell her myself, and I didn’t know how to get a hold of her,” she explained before she would be handed it back over via concierge. “She’s getting the hat back today. I put it in this lovely bag, and I’m giving it back.” As a thank-you, Erivo gave Clara tickets to the London premiere of Wicked: For Good on November 10. Thank goodness!
