German court sentences 3 Syrian men for terrorism, war crimes
A German court in Munich sentenced three Syrian men to prison for their involvement in a foreign terrorist group during the Syrian civil war, following a trial lasting over a year, reported AFP.
The defendants—partially identified as Amer Tarak A, Sohail A, and Basel O—received sentences ranging from four and a half to nearly ten years.
All three were members of the armed rebel group Liwa Jund al-Rahman, reportedly founded by Amer Tarak A; two of them were additionally convicted of war crimes. The group had fought against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad before merging with the Islamic State.
