Hive’s Korea-U.S. joint global girl group Cats Eye confessed that it had received several death threats since its debut last year.

Cats Eye said in an interview with the BBC on the 11th (local time).

“I’m trying to tell myself that it’s okay, but if 1,000 people send me a death threat, it’s a big shock,” Lara said. “It’s too much even if it doesn’t actually happen.”

Lara, an American citizen of Indian descent, said she suffered from racist criticism.

False reports of living and working illegally in the United States have also entered the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Lara also mentioned sexist accusations. “People see us as women who are rated,” he said. “We score our appearance, singing, and dancing skills, and add them up and express them as percentages.”

“I realized that I didn’t have to be swayed by other people’s opinions,” he said, adding that he deleted his X (formerly Twitter) account to avoid negative online public opinion.

CatsEye, however, did not specify the threats they were receiving.

“We have chosen to go public and we know that (what happens to us) is part of our fame,” leader Sophia said. “But that doesn’t change the fact that we are human.”

“Our career is still short, but I feel like we have already said too much to us and our families,” he said. Manon also complained, “It seems to be mentally terrorized.”

Cats Eye is a global girl group produced by Hive in partnership with Geffen Records under Universal Music in the U.S. by incorporating a K-pop development system in the U.S.

It is a six-member team consisting of Manon (Switzerland), Sofia (Philippines), Daniela, Lara, Megan (USA), and Yoon Chae (Korea), which drew attention with various nationalities, races and backgrounds.
