Valeri Nichushkin will miss his first game with a lower-body injury suffered on Tuesday against Anaheim. Without him available, the Avalanche are elevating Gavin Brindley to the second line. Colorado called up Taylor Makar to fill out the fourth line.
Samuel Girard makes his return after missing the last 15 games. He hasn’t played since the home opener on Oct. 9 and will slot in on the third pair alongside Sam Malinski.

The Sabres are in last place in the Eastern Conference. They’ve played 10 games at home, posting a respectable 5-3-2 record. The Avs are one of those three regulation losses. However, in six road games, the Sabres are 0-4-2 following a loss in Utah on Wednesday night.
