In World Cup qualifying, Reds captain Virgil van Dijk was joined by Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch in starting for the Netherlands in a Group G clash.
Gravenberch was the only one of the trio to depart the fixture – being replaced in minute 89 – as they played out a 1-1 draw with Poland.
In Group A, meanwhile, Florian Wirtz was involved in Germany’s 2-0 victory over Luxembourg, while Conor Bradley completed Northern Ireland’s 1-0 defeat by Slovakia.
Earlier on in friendly action, Alexis Mac Allister featured for Argentina for 85 minutes in their 2-0 win over Angola, while Mohamed Salah started Egypt’s 2-0 defeat by Uzbekistan.
At U21s level, Trent Kone-Doherty was selected in Republic of Ireland’s line-up, though his country were beaten 2-0 by England in a Euros qualifier.
And, for England U20s, Amara Nallo was a substitute in the second half as they played out a 1-1 draw with Japan.
