Michelle Obama, wife of former U.S. President Barack Obama, stated that the United States is not ready for a woman to assume the presidency.
She made the remarks while responding to questions from American actress Tracee Ellis Ross on Saturday evening, during an event held in Brooklyn, New York.
Michelle Obama added, “As we saw in the last presidential election, Kamala Harris ran for the position and did not succeed, which indicates that the United States is not ready for a woman to become president.”
She emphasized the need for a change in opinions and perceptions in order for a woman to lead the United States, noting that many men do not believe women are capable of leadership.
It is worth mentioning that former U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama announced their support for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the most recent presidential election after former President Joe Biden withdrew from the race.
