WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – Wichita Falls woman Cynthia Gail Gray is behind bars after a three-month investigation by the City Marshal’s Office linked her to alleged insurance fraud.
Gray faces five counts of Tampering with a Governmental Record with Intent to Harm or Defraud Another. In April, WFPD detectives noticed evidence that a fraudulent insurance scheme seemed to link back to a female suspect acting as a middleman. They made the discovery while working on several unrelated cases.
WFPD turned the case over to the City Marshal’s Office, which then reviewed thousands of financial documents and eventually allegedly linked Gray to the fraudulent document creation.
“This case highlights the power of inter-agency cooperation in achieving justice,” City Marshal Stan Horton said. “Insurance safeguards vehicles and protects individuals in the event of injury or property damage. Falsifying these records undermines accountability, erodes trust, and jeopardizes the protections we all rely on.”
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges and suspects may be revealed at a later date.
