NEW LONDON, Conn. —
Ashton Kendall (Baltimore, Md.) of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy men’s basketball team and Megan Doubrava (Aurora, Colo.) of the women’s swimming & diving team have been named the CoastGuardAthletics.Com Athletes of the Week, presented by First Command, for the week ending November 16th.
Kendall made a splash in his collegiate debut during men’s basketball’s season-opening 91-87 win over Roger Williams University last Wednesday. The freshman contributed 16 points off the bench on efficient 6-for-9 shooting from the field and a red-hot 4-for-5 on three-pointers. Kendall also picked up two steals in his debut.
Doubrava won three individual events in women’s swim & dive’s 170-121 dual meet win over Wellesley College this past Friday. The team captain touched the wall first in the 1000 Free (11:03.31), 200 Fly (2:13.24), and the 500 Free (5:24.76) to continue her season as the Lady Bears’ top distance swimmer.
Kendall and men’s basketball kick off a three-game week tomorrow by hosting Sarah Lawrence College (1-2) at 7:30 PM ET, while Doubrava and women’s swim & dive will be back in the pool this upcoming Saturday, November 22nd, to face Brandeis University (0-6) for a scheduled noontime start.
