That’s one way to make a first impression.

During the Raiders’ “Monday Night Football” loss to the Cowboys, Peyton Manning reflected on a funny first encounter with Brock Bowers, as well as teaching the Las Vegas tight end’s girlfriend at the University of Tennessee.

In the second quarter, Peyton told his brother Eli on the “ManningCast” that he first ran into the All-Pro at a Raiders-Broncos game last season.

The Hall of Fame quarterback utilized the opportunity to tease Bowers for attending Georgia — whom he carved up during his time at Tennessee — while applauding the star tight end’s girlfriend for studying at his alma mater.

“I’d never met him before,” Manning said. “But he walked up to me right by me, and I said, ‘Bowers, you went to Georgia, so I know you couldn’t be that smart. But your girlfriend went to Tennessee.’”

Manning added that Bowers’ girlfriend, Cameron Newell, was a student in his class at the university.

“[She’s] very smart, obviously,” Manning, who was named a professor of practice at Tennessee’s College of Communication and Information in 2023, said, “so good for him for figuring it out.”

Eli quipped back with some follow-up questions, playfully doubting his brother’s teaching ability: “She’s smart because she’s in your class? Why is that obvious?”

Peyton clarified that Newell was smart because she goes to Tennessee, but emphasized that it’s a “tough class.”

“An easy ‘A,’” he admitted, “but a tough class.”

Newell can often be found cheering on Bowers from the crowd — evident from her Instagram account — and even supported him while he was with the rival Bulldogs.

Georgia picked up a dominant win over the weekend, taking down Texas with Peyton in attendance to cheer on his nephew, Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning, from the sidelines.
