Tom Rhys HarriesĀ (The Gentlemen) is set to star as the DC character in the upcoming horror movie Clayface, and THR reports that Naomi Ackie (Blink Twice) is now also in talks.

THR notes, ā€œReading sessions took place in England last week with Ackie emerging as the choice. Formal negotiations are due to begin this week, according to several sources.ā€

The outlet also reports, ā€œThe project is described as having shades and structure of The Fly,ā€ with David Cronenberg’s 1986 remake being the specific point of comparison here.

Currently in pre-production,Ā Clayface – described as a ā€œcomplete horror filmā€ – is expected to shoot later this summer for aĀ September 11, 2026Ā theatrical release via Warner Bros.

James WatkinsĀ (The Woman in Black, Speak No Evil) will direct from a script byĀ Mike FlanaganĀ (ā€œThe Haunting of Hill House,ā€ Doctor Sleep) andĀ Hossein AminiĀ (Drive).

The story centers on an actor who injects himself with a substance to remain relevant, only to find out that he can reshape his face and form, becoming a walking piece of clay.

James Gunn’s DC Studios co-CEO Peter SafranĀ previously calledĀ ClayfaceĀ ā€œan incredible body horror film that reveals a compelling origin of a classic Batman villain.ā€
