TAMPA, Fla. (KFOX 14, CBS 4) — Diego Luna scored a goal to help lead the United States Men’s National Team to a 5-1 victory over Uruguay in Tampa on Tuesday.
This was the USMNT’s final match in 2025.
The US took the lead in the 17th minute when Sebastian Berhalter scored off of a designed set piece. Then, Alex Freeman scored two goals to make it 3-0. The former El Paso Locomotive midfielder, Luna, added a fourth in the 41st minute. Right before the half, Giorgian de Arrascaeta got Uruguay on the board. In the second half, Tanner Tessmann headed home a chipped cross from Gio Reyna to make it 5-1.
Luna began his professional career in El Paso in 2021. He featured 43 times for the Locos before moving to Real Salt Lake. Luna scored nine goals this season for RSL.
RSL fell in the wild-card round of the MLS playoffs.
