The iPhone Fold’s battery could be quite large, according to tipster yeux1122 on Korean social network Naver. Surprisingly large, in fact.

Apple is apparently looking into giving the foldable iPhone a battery capacity of 5,400 to 5,800 mAh. This is because the company is focusing on “higher functionality at the expense of weight and thickness,” according to the leaker.

previously rumored capacity of 5,000 – 5,500 mAh. Both the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold – Apple’s main foldable phone rivals – have smaller batteries than this, as the table above shows, which hopefully also means that Apple will be able to beat their battery life test results too.

We can’t rule out Samsung and Google’s next foldable phones making battery and power efficiency upgrades in the meantime, possibly closing the gap between their current models and what’s rumored for the iPhone Fold. But it’s unlikely that either phone would see a capacity increase large enough to bring them up to the rumored level of the Apple foldable.

Another key part of the iPhone Fold has allegedly had its manufacturer confirmed, according to Weibo-based leaker Setsuna Digital. Well done to anyone who predicted that it would be Samsung Display that is reportedly building the iPhone Fold’s screens.

This supplier pick makes sense on two fronts. Samsung already makes displays for Apple’s phones, providing the vast majority of panels for the iPhone 17 series. Secondly, when it comes to foldable screens, Samsung has the most experience out of any brand around, so it’s only natural that Apple would be drawn to them for its first foray into foldables.

Setsuna Digital also says that Foxconn, the Taiwanese manufacturer already responsible for building iPhones, will handle assembly of the iPhone Fold as well. Foxconn has facilities in several countries, although China and India are two of the largest ones.

No doubt Foxconn and Apple will be carefully considering where to build the iPhone Fold. While Foxconn’s Chinese factories have the greatest expertise with smartphones, basing operations there would invoke the wrath of the Trump administration’s heavy tariffs.

creaseless inner screen doesn’t happen, or the spacious battery capacity we’ve heard about isn’t quite as impressive in reality.

The iPhone Fold will arrive with the iPhone 18 next year, or at least the iPhone 18 Pro, if you believe the rumors about Apple’s revised phone launch plans. While we’ve still got a while to wait, Apple will need to have all its suppliers and parts in place long before then. So it’s good to hear that the screen’s on schedule, even if two other key parts still need signing off on.
