EXCLUSIVE: Actor and writer Charlie Hall (Monster: The Ed Gein Story, The Sex Lives of College Girls) is developing the half-hour comedy series C-League with Alec Berg (Barry, Silicon Valley) and Amy Solomon (Barry, Silicon Valley) for Hulu. 20th Television, where Berg and Solomon are under an overall deal, is the studio.

C-League follows five best friends in their late 20s on a quest to win the championship of their men’s adult recreational basketball league. Together they’ll attempt to battle male loneliness, navigate modern masculinity, and ideally shoot better than 26% from three and not be winded by halftime.

Hall, Berg and Solomon executive produce the project.

Hall just wrapped a series regular role in the upcoming Apple drama, Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed, starring opposite Tatiana Maslany. He was recently seen in the latest season of Ryan Murphy’s Netflix series Monster, which focused on the suspected serial killer Ed Gein, starring opposite Charlie Hunnam. Hall co-wrote and starred in Sorry Charlie, which he developed from his web series of the same name alongside Sony Television and Amazon Freevee. Prior to his work in entertainment, Hall played Division 1 basketball at Northwestern University. Hall is repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.

Berg and Solomon produced the hit HBO dark comedy series Barry, which Berg co-created with star Bill Hader, and HBO’s Silicon Valley, for which Berg was the showrunner. Berg also served as a writer, director, and executive producer of Larry David’s HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm and as writer/EP on NBC’s Seinfeld. The producing partners are currently in development on a half-hour comedy series with Hulu and 20th Television, based on the life of Jake Shane, a comedian best known for his podcast “Therapuss.” Berg is repped by UTA and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller. Solomon is repped at UTA.
