Savannah Guthrie shared a sweet commercial break moment with one of Hollywood’s biggest stars on Today.
Before sitting down with Jonathan Bailey and Jeff Goldblum on the Wednesday, November 19, episode of Today, Guthrie received an impromptu music lesson from the latter. “A little piano session with Savannah and Jeff Goldblum this morning

In the video, Goldblum instructed Guthrie as she played while sitting next to him at a keyboard. Craig Melvin looked both surprised and happy upon walking in on the moment in Studio 1A. Goldblum continued to sing along as he and Guthrie played a tune together.

Guthrie shared more footage of her and Goldblum’s jam session via her Instagram Story on Wednesday, which Goldblum reposted to his Instagram Story. “By far the best piano teacher I’ve ever had – @jeffgoldblum,” she captioned the post.
On Wednesday’s episode of Today, Guthrie reflected on her piano experience while praising Goldblum’s skills as a jazz pianist. “I’m trying to re-learn my piano. I quit at 14. You’re inspiring me,” she shared, noting that she previously played for around years.
“You’re very good,” Goldblum complimented before walking over to the keyboard to play a song before the commercial break. “We’ll buy a ticket to go see Wicked on Friday,” he sang. “But first, we’ll visit you, Savannah, today.”
Guthrie and Bailey were all smiles as they joined Goldblum piano. Bailey wrapped up the segment by giving Goldblum a hug, while Guthrie shook the actor’s hand. Al Roker even shared kind words about Goldblum, stating, “If you want a great evening, Jeff Goldblum and The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra. It is a thing to behold,” the weatherman gushed. “I’ve seen him three times at the Café Carlyle.”
Goldblum and Bailey appeared on Today to promote their new movie, Wicked: For Good. The film’s release comes shortly after Bailey was named People’s 2025 Sexiest Man Alive. To not let Goldblum feel left out, Guthrie awarded him with the title of Today‘s Sexiest Man Alive. “Between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m., long may you reign on the Today show hours,” she stated.
In reaction, Goldblum quipped, “This is too humbling.”
Goldblum and Bailey’s Today interview also marked the end of their Wicked: For Good press tour events together. “It’s coming to a grand conclusion today,” Bailey remarked, to which Goldblum added, “This is the swan song, right now.”
