A Mexican citizen was sentenced earlier this month after he was found guilty of trying to reenter the United States illegally for the third time.U.S. District Court Judge Christina Reiss sentenced Artemio Cordova Mendez, 36, of Mexico, to five months in prison with credit for time served after he was caught trying to enter the northern border through Vermont.Court records showed that Mendez had been accused of illegal entry twice before, once in Arizona in 2010 and a second time six months later in New Mexico. He was convicted both times and removed from the country. He was caught once again in August trying to reenter through Vermont. He still had not obtained permission to legally enter the United States.
