EL SERENO, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Shots were fired Thursday afternoon near a high school in the El Sereno neighborhood of Los Angeles, according to police, prompting a school lockdown.
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to Woodrow Wilson Senior High School on Multnomah Street just after 3:30 p.m. after receiving calls about a reported shooting.
Two suspects reportedly opened fire in the parking lot area, one of whom got into a truck – possibly a green truck – and took off, according to police.
The second suspect was seen running on Soto Street. Police said no victims were found.
The Los Angeles Fire Department cleared the scene later in the afternoon and also said no victims were found.
It’s unclear what prompted the shooting.
The incident remains under investigation.
Meantime, LAUSD sent a message to parents and guardians, confirming law enforcement activity in the area.
“The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff remain my top priority. I am calling to advise you that our campus is on lockdown because of law-enforcement activity in the area. The law enforcement activity is not related to immigration enforcement. We are following district protocols.
Our school will also provide resources for students who may need additional mental health support because of this incident.”
