RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – President Donald Trump’s bronze statue will be placed in its permanent home in downtown Rapid City on Tuesday, Nov. 25.
The latest addition to the City of Presidents will be located at the corner of St. Joseph Street and 6th Street.
The statue was first unveiled in May and housed at the Rapid City Visitor Center for the summer season.
The statue is part of the privately funded nonpartisan City of Presidents project, which began in 2000 with the goal of lining downtown Rapid City streets with every president to ever sit in office.
Trump’s statue marks a big first for the project, as this is the first time a sitting president has had his statue presented during their term.
As previously reported by KOTA Territory News, the statue was commissioned after Trump’s first term ended in 2021 and was completed before he was re-elected in Nov. 2024.
Jim Maher is the artist behind the statue and has contributed 12 other presidents as well, including Ronald Reagan, Herbert Hoover and George W. Bush.
