Now, 10 artificial turf fields, all with lights and nearly 1,000 parking spaces are set to be unveiled during a ceremony at 6:30 p.m. at the complex along Westbrook Boulevard. In addition to the fields and two parking lots, the complex has two separate plazas, public art and an accessible playground. From a soccer perspective, tourism leaders said this fits a need in the greater Sacramento region for an all-weather complex to host large soccer tournaments, especially during the rainy season.”Davis has a fantastic facility, but it’s grass fields and it will sometimes shut down. This allows the Sacramento region to host some of these big State Cup tournaments or national qualifier tournaments in the time when we normally wouldn’t see it, those months of November, December, January and February,” Summers said.Sports tourism in the Placer Valley area generates more than $5 million in hotel sales alone, said Summers. This complex is expected to add thousands of hotel room nights and generate an estimated $15 million economic impact, according to tourism officials and the city of Roseville. The community is invited to a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the $61 million Placer Valley Soccer Complex Friday evening in Roseville.

“This is a huge deal,” said Kim Summers, Placer Valley Tourism CEO. “Words can’t describe how big this is.”

Twenty one years ago, the city of Roseville approved a vision for a regional soccer complex.

From a soccer perspective, tourism leaders said this fits a need in the greater Sacramento region for an all-weather complex to host large soccer tournaments, especially during the rainy season.

“Davis has a fantastic facility, but it’s grass fields and it will sometimes shut down. This allows the Sacramento region to host some of these big State Cup tournaments or national qualifier tournaments in the time when we normally wouldn’t see it, those months of November, December, January and February,” Summers said.

Sports tourism in the Placer Valley area generates more than $5 million in hotel sales alone, said Summers.

This complex is expected to add thousands of hotel room nights and generate an estimated $15 million economic impact, according to tourism officials and the city of Roseville.

The event will include soccer scrimmages and other opportunities to tour the new complex.

“The community should definitely comes out. This is a community celebration,” said Summers.
