SALT LAKE CITY — Early Saturday morning a wrong-way driver on Interstate 80 caused a multiple vehicle crash, leading to several people being transported to the hospital.
On I-80 at about mile marker 118 by Interstate 215 West, the crash blocked Eastbound traffic.
Trooper Davies Sanches with the Utah Highway Patrol said that the SLCPD was pursuing a vehicle when it hit the freeway going the wrong way.
Troopers were called in to assist with the chase and found the vehicle in a wrong-way crash.
Sanches said multiple people have been transported to the hospital with injuries but there have been no fatalities so far. No specifics of injuries have been given at this time. No exact number of people or vehicles involved are known at this time.
Sanches said the suspected driver of the wrong way vehicle is under investigation for DUI at this time.
