Troopers release Red-Tailed Hawk back into Michigan wild after recovery

Hawk released by same Houghton Post troopers who rescued him

A young Red-Tailed Hawk has been released back into the wild after being rescued by Michigan State Police troopers.

Troopers from the MSP Houghton Lake Post rescued the hawk on Oct. 15, 2025.

Police said the hawk was found with a severe concussion and a ruptured air sac.

The Association to Rescue Kritters (A.R.K.) provided care, and the hawk spent the last month recovering.

On Thursday, Nov. 20, the hawk was released back into the wild by the same troopers who had rescued him.
